User Friendly
A lot of work has been carried
out recently to make disabled toilet facilities in the
main building and ramps have been made to both outside
entrances. Having these facilities has made the Church
more 'user-friendly' and we are now able to extend the
use/hire of the church on a wider scale.
We have had a new P.A. system installed with a 'loop
system' and also installed a new fitted kitchen which was
given to us by Annitsford Church who had to have their
church demolished.
Repair work continues around the building and it has been re-decorated.
We have recently added a porch to the side of the main building at the entrance to the extension, making more room to move between the two parts and the entrance hall. We have also had new outside doors fitted to the main building.
We applied for grants and were
successful in obtaining £500 from Northumberland
County Council Small Grants Department. We also applied
to The Coalfields Regeneration Trust and received £4,350.
This Trust was set up in September, 1999 to help tackle
the social and economic problems faced by coalfield
communities in England, Scotland and Wales. Between
September 1999 and March 2002, the Trust spent £50m
on 680 projects, and is planning to spend at least another
£50m by March 2005. (We've been asked to include
this last paragraph whenever we mention this grant).
