Everyone is welcome. If you are visiting or completely new to church our Churchwardens/Sidesmen will be happy to help you. Please don’t hesitate to ask anyone for help, we want your time with us to be a pleasant and positive experience. Sunday School meets in Saint Benedict’s Parish Centre at the beginning of the 10am Mass. Please make yourself known to

The Collect 
God our redeemer, you have delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of your Son: grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ  your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Baptism: Please pray for Emma Kate Tomlinson being baptised at the 8.30am Mass at Horton this morning.

Sunday Collection: £287.77 for Sunday 2nd May.

Sick or in Need: If anybody becomes ill or needs the ministration of the Parish Priest please let Fr. Derek and/or the Churchwardens know as soon as possible.

Help Needed: If there are any budding flower arrangers who would be willing to take their turn at providing the floral displays at S. Benedict’s please speak to Fr Derek or either of the Churchwardens. We also  could do with a few other people to help with the cleaning of S. Benedict’s, again speak to Fr Derek or either Churchwarden. YOUR CHURCH NEEDS YOU.

Confirmations: The Bishop of Beverley is coming on Tuesday 22nd June to preside at Mass and perform Confirmations. The Mass with Confirmations will be at 7pm at S. Benedict’s followed by refreshments in the Parish Centre. Confirmation classes are taking place on Saturday mornings at 10.30am at the Vicarage. Please keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers.

Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage: Takes place this year from 2nd August to 6th August inclusive. We are grateful to everybody for their financial contributions to make this happen. There are lists at the back of both Churches with the winning ticket numbers from the Easter Egg raffle. All proceeds towards funds for the Youth Pilgrimage.

Dates for your diaries

Deanery Synod: The next meeting takes place at S. Cuthbert’s, Blyth at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11th May. Refreshments will be served at 7pm.

CTB: The next meeting takes place at S. Benedict’s on Wednesday 12th May at 7.45pm. Refreshments will be served from 7.15pm.

Ascension Day: There will be a sung Mass on Thursday 13th May at 7pm at S. Benedict’s.

“Sing-a-Long-a-Sound-of-Music”: Following on from the success of our Sing-a-Long-a-Mamma-Mia night we are going to hold a similar event for the “Sound of Music”. The event will take place on Friday 21st May from 7pm in S. Benedict’s Parish Centre. Sign-up sheets are available at the back of both Churches and tickets priced £5 are available now. Ticket price includes bangers and mash supper and entertainment. A prize will be awarded for the best fancy dress costume.

Society of Mary: The next meeting of the SOM takes place on Tuesday 25th May at S. Mary Magdelene, Sunderland at 7.30pm.
